Preheater mainly uses the waste heat of smoke in industrial boiler to heat boiler combustion air, which not only improves the thermal efficiency of the stove, but also reduce the environment pollution. They are widely used in steam boiler, hot water boiler, circulating fluidized bed boiler, or power plant boiler. Air pre-heater is a heat transfer surface, in which air temperature is raised by transferring heat from other media such as flue gas. Hot air is necessary for rapid combustion in the furnace or for drying coal in milling plants. So an essential boiler accessory which can get this purpose is air pre-heater. Though the air pre-heater are not essential for operation of steam boiler, they are used to improve efficiency and save cost.

Preheater types for boiler

There are two types of air preheaters used in steam generators or thermal power station boilers. One is a tubular type built into the boiler flue gas ducting, and the other is a regenerative air preheater. The gas flows can go across the axis of rotation horizontally or vertically.

Tubular type preheater

Tubular preheaters including straight tube bundles, which go through the outlet ducting of the boiler and open at end outside of the ducting. In the ducting, the hot furnace gases go around the preheater tubes, transferring heat from the exhaust gas to the air inside the preheater. Air is forced by a fan through a ducting to another set of ducting, and then fill into the boiler furnace for combustion. Many circulating fluidized bed (CFB) steam boilers and bubbling fluidized bed (BFB) steam generators in Zhengzhou Boiler are currently designed to use tubular air heaters.
