Biomass Co-firing Power Stations for South Africa
Over the years ZBG has constantly been supplying and manufacturing steam boilers for power station all over the world. Like the CFB power plant boiler, corner tube boiler, coal fired boiler, gas power plant boiler, etc. are available in the power stations, what's more the co-firing power stations have been expanding in South Africa.
The most logical path to introduce co-firing in South African power stations would be based on wood pellets. There are already three companies producing wood pellets, which are largely exported. A study has shown that there is sufficient wood waste available in South Africa and surrounding countries to achieve 10% co-firing in existing coal fired stations, with 6% possible using sources within South Africa only. Higher percentages could be achieved if co-firing is applied to selected stations only.
